Book Talk: A Bed for the Night, Life in the Old Washington County Jail (6/30/16)

Join us as author Kay Crank relays stories collected during her research for A Bed for the Night: Life in the Old Washington County Jail, Salem, New York

Upon entering the old Washington County Jail, one can almost hear the Soggy Bottom Boys singing Jimmy Roger's "In the Jailhouse Now." Kay Crank has captured the spirit of life in a cold bar cell, prisoners' laments, guards watching over minor offenders to murderers, and a cook who lovingly cooked and baked for the incarcerated as if they were her old children. The book includes many tales and accounts gathered from community members, former staff & prisoners of experiences related to the Washington County Jail when it was attached to the Old Washington County Courthouse in Salem, New York.

A book signing will follow. Books will be available for purchase ($15/each).
