I’m reading two at the moment: The New Evolution Diet: What Our Paleolithic Ancestors Can Teach Us about Weight Loss, Fitness, and Aging by Arthur De Vany, and All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren.
I chose the New Evolution Diet because I was talking to my nephew over Christmas and he’s tried the Paleo diet before, so I was inspired to pick up this take on it. Also, because the New Evolution Diet has a lot in common with diets that promote giving up gluten, and I’ve been moving in that direction of late, too.
I’m enjoying All the King’s Men tremendously. It’s fun to pick up a classic; and I suddenly have an interest in Louisiana politics (more on that in future posts). Willie Stark and Jack Burden are some of the most fascinating characters you’ll ever meet. I literally can’t wait until bedtime tonight so I can dig in again.
So, do share! What’s on your nightstand?

I just finished The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry and I am looking forward to our Book Club talk this Thurs. at 6:30 PM. Speaking of classics, I have on my nightstand The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. I visited her home in Doylestown, Pa. in Sept. and am interested to know more about her life and her work.
I am reading “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safran Foer. I kept seeing the commercials for it and when I saw the book, I had to get it. I often prefer reading the book over seeing the movie (and the cost of movies has gone through the roof). So far it is interesting though a bit difficult to follow at times. It definitely puts your mind to work!
